Funcrumb Logo Design Process

Brief Introduction

Funcrumb, currently under development, is an online community that can help make your social life active and stimulating. It makes easy to find people who share your hobbies and interests, look for romantic connections or establish new business contacts.

The client contacted me to come up with a brand new logo for her website, Funcrumb.com. She wanted the logo to be playful, sportive with fun elements that can instantly catch the attention of the people. She wanted the colors to be lovely, bright and Web 2.0-ish.

The final approved logo:

Brainstorming

When I thought on the text to be used on the logo, Funcrumb, two thoughts came to my mind. First: fun, second: crumb i.e small piece something of bread or cake. That was my first idea, and then I further conceptualize on this thought aiming to make a “fun” element of the “bread crumb”. I spend some time brainstorming my thoughts on this topic and the following are some of the sketches I drew during this process.

The Applied thought

The final idea that I considered for the logo graphic is to make the “bread crumb” into a shape of “sweet sun” and the bitten part of the cake into “clouds” and the graphic of “human” with hands widened into a playful spirit.

Colors

Since the customer wanted a combo of colors that express fun nature, I considered trying Yellow, orange, blue, green, violet. Another important requirement from her was to create the overall logo in Web 2.0 style. So I tried these colors some sort of brightness to make it look a bit expressive at the same time. I also applied some bevel effect to the logo text for more expression toward fun.

Font variations & selection:

  1. Eurofurence bold
  2. Plump MT
  3. New Millenium Schlbk SH Roman Bold
  4. Palent
  5. Rondalo

Final font selection is “Eurofurence bold”, because of its roundedness that reminds of fun.

Here’s what I came up with.

The selected Logo

When I submitted the logo to the customer she was immediately happy. However she wanted to see a variation of the logo with white background. So, I complied with her request and made the modification along with changing the logo text to a light blue and a darker orange color to rightly fit with the background. She loved the final output. You can see the logo on her website, Funcrumb.  (The site is under development.)
